LPN suggestion under the Public Consultation of the Environmental Impact Assessment on the Change of the National Transportation Network Project between Ferreira do Alentejo, Ourique and Tavira

Suggestion

Since the evolution of land use planning in the study area will depend on the implementation degree of the recommended local and regional policies, it is considered urgent to carry out a Strategic Environmental Assessment (AAE) for the expansion of solar plants at national level that identifies the opportunities, risks and effects on the environment resulting from achieving the goals for the sector and that provides a clear regulation about site selection for the establishment of new solar plants at national level. The authorization for the establishment of new solar plants projects in the region (low Alentejo and Algarve) should only be granted after a clear definition of these environmentally suitable areas.

This way, LPN suggests the revision of the present Environmental Impact Assessment to include a zoning that identifies the areas where new solar plants are forbidden within the area of influence covered by the project.
