Responding to the Public Consultation of the Allotment project of UP3 of Traditional Hotels in Portimão, the League for the Protection of Nature provides its unfavorable technical advice, with in no way fit into the present context of sustainable development, considering it completely disrespects the commitments assumed by Portugal in international fora for nature and biodiversity conservation and for sustainable development.
In the project that is presented there is a partial overlap between the allotment and the areas integrated in REN, non-compliance with the POOC and direct, permanent and irreversible negative impacts identified in the EIA presented. Most of these impacts are directly or indirectly related to erosion processes and no effective mitigation measures are possible.
The consequences of the identified impacts are unbearable with the sustainability of use of the National territory since it will accelerate the coastal line retreat with all the personal, material and ecological consequences arising from it.
Read the technical advice here (in Portuguese).
